As a surgeon treating many cancer patients, I have repeatedly encountered the limitations of existing treatments. Despite recent advances in chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy, effective treatment options for refractory cancers – which repeatedly relapse and metastasize – remain limited. In view of the significant number of annual fatalities attributable to cancer, there is an urgent requirement to develop new treatments.

FerroptoCure was set up to address an unmet need.

Our research is centered on a novel form of cell death known as ferroptosis. As cancer cells acquire resistance to treatment, they develop mechanisms (antioxidative system) that suppress ferroptosis. By targeting this mechanism, we are steadily advancing our research and development with the goal of creating a new anticancer drug—the world's first ferroptosis-inducing small-molecule anticancer drug—capable of inducing cell death even in tumors that are resistant to existing treatments.

FerroptoCure has assembled a team of members with extensive experience in the fields of medicine, drug discovery and business. It is clear that leveraging the extensive networks cultivated through individual experiences, in conjunction with the collective wisdom amassed within the company, is instrumental in expediting the advancement of development initiatives in a consistent and methodical manner.

The delivery of the world's first anticancer drug, developed in Japan, to patients is a matter of great importance. The company is working tirelessly to achieve this goal as quickly as possible.
